November 11, 2014

Samsung is said to apply for a license to build another smartphone factory worth US$3 billion in the northern province of Thai Nguyen, Vietnam, where the company opened its first such factory in March this year, reported Reuters on November 10. The government official confirmed the news but said the schedule and final investment amount are to be decided. Samsung has recently made intensive investments in Vietnam, including a US$1 billion factory for HD (High Definition) display manufacturing and assembly approved in July. With the latest investment plan, the company's total investments in the country will reach around US$11 billion this year.
